Position Summary
RSI is recruiting an early-career environmental scientist with rigorous attention to detail to join our environmental services team to plan, evaluate, and execute soil, groundwater, surface water, and/or waste sampling activities on the Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge Reservation. The successful candidate will support the team in planning, developing and implementing environmental sampling activities as part of the CERCLA process, ultimately working to restore the Oak Ridge Reservation to beneficial re-use. This open position will integrate to plan, organize, and facilitate characterization activities from start to finish to include Sample Request development, data and records management, work control, and both the execution and administration of shipping/transportation activities. This role will be a flexible addition to the functional support team. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, Collect, and Evaluate environmental data to adequately characterize and confirm pre, in situ, and post activity status.
- Prepare a variety of environmental documents including Sampling Requests, reports, tables, Work Control documents, Shipping/Transportation paperwork, and data quality assessments.
- Participate in collaborative meetings with DOE client, and regulatory agencies EPA and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC)
- Interface with Sample Management Office, Data Management Group, and field sample teams to prepare, execute, and track data collection activities including Quality checks and peer reviews.
Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:
- B.S. in Environmental Science, Geosciences, or other applicable physical/chemical science or engineering a plus
- Multi-task oriented
- Excellent Communication skills
- Working in Microsoft Office making tables, charts, graphs, etc.
- Familiarity with Work Control protocols/ISMS principles
- Records Management and/or Shipping Transportation experience a +
- General Chemistry knowledge a plus
- Experience with statistics a plus
