Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for an Environmental and Geospatial Data Management (EGDM) Manager who will provide management, oversight, and supervision for the Environmental and Spatial Data Management (EGDM) Department; The EGDM manager has overall responsibility for operation of the EGDM organization and coordination with the LM client.  Ensure EGDM mission and objectives are achieved, and that EGDM products, services, and projects are managed in accordance with company and government requirements. Ensure the implementation of DOE requirements that pertain to environmental and spatial data management and collection.  Ensure implementation of LM Environmental and Geospatial Data Management policies.

FLSA: Exempt
Hiring Range: $135,000.00 - $158,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

 

This position is required to travel up to 5% of the time.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the EGDM management team to ensure the EGDM mission and objectives are met.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to EGDM management team personnel.
  • Ensure client expectations are achieved or exceeded by the organization in all aspects of services and projects under the purview of EGDM.
  • Recruit, interview, and select employees for the EGDM organization.
  • Develop scope, schedule, and budget for work performed by EGDM (i.e., life-cycle baseline and annual planning).
  • Maintain transparency of EGDM operations with the LM sponsor and LMS management.
  • Conduct assessments of EGDM performance relative to its mission and objectives.
  • Assist the EGDM management team in establishing work priorities.
  • Communicate operations requirements to the EGDM management and staff.
  • Ensure EGDM capabilities are aligned with the data acquisition, management, and reporting needs of LM.
  • Ensure EGDM staff operate in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate EGDM data governance activities.
  • Coordinate EGDM operations with other LMS organizations and management teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • 8 years of relevant experience in environmental or spatial data management, data acquisition, and reporting services.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading or supervising technical staff involved in data management, data acquisition, and reporting services.

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or other equivalent certification desirable.

 

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient at managing and providing leadership to a department level organization (20-40 individuals).
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involving strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Experience in environmental and spatial data management, data acquisition, and reporting services.
  • Experience leading or supervising technical staff involved in data management, data acquisition, and reporting services.
  • Experience and knowledge using spatial data management systems, including geographic information system (GIS), CAD, and web mapping platforms.
  • Experience and knowledge of environmental data management workflows and procedures.
  • Experience and knowledge of survey techniques, data processing, and mapping-grade GPS technology.
  • Intermediate level operational knowledge of Microsoft Project or other project management software.
  • Experience and knowledge in the use and configuration of work management software.
  • Understanding of industry standard information governance principles applicable to environmental and spatial data.
  • Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills through examples of reports or presentations given.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all employees, customers, and contracted vendors.
  • Ability to prioritize work, address customer needs and concerns, and problem solve.
  • Ability to collaborate with data services staff, sister organizations, clients, and data users in achieving the goals of the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Background in DOE data management practices and standards.
  • Familiarity with standards of data management such as the Data Management Book of Knowledge

Essential Physical Requirements 

Sedentary: Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
