Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for a Jr. Proposal and Integration Estimator who will help prepare and present estimates that are based on documented assumptions, time constraints, resource costs and availability, and client requirements. They will also learn and perform basic tasks related to integrating WinEst database system and multiple business functions.

 

Job Title: Jr. Proposal and Integration Estimator

Location(s): Grand Junction, CO

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Hiring Range: $62,000.00 – 70,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

 

This position is required to travel 5% of the time.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and analyzing cost and time estimates for projects under the guidance of the department manager, intermediate or senior estimators.
  • Review project documents, perform quantity takeoffs, and assemble estimates for the routine portions of a project under the guidance of the department manager, intermediate or senior estimators.
  • Identify and document fundamental factors of production (such as local labor availability and standard material lead times) that influence the cost of simple services or products.
  • Solicit and obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors; help analyze vendor and subcontractor quotations for completeness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Support the development of draft estimate submission documents and risk register inputs by gathering data and formatting spreadsheets under the guidance of the department manager, intermediate or senior estimators.
  • Assist with collecting and recording actual project costs and entering verified data into resource tracking sheets.
  • Participate in and help document estimate review meetings.
  • Assist in evaluating project risks, assumptions, and estimating contingencies under the guidance of the department manager, intermediate or senior estimators.
  • Assist with compiling and formatting of estimate reports, summaries, and proposal packages prior to management reviews.
  • Prepare draft schedule activities, logic, and durations for routine portions of a project under the guidance of the department manager, intermediate or senior estimators.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, or related field. Experience in lieu of education considered.
  • No minimum experience required. 3 years of general construction experience preferred.

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • No professional certification required.

 

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of DOE regulations and requirements as they relate to contracting and estimating.
  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of WinEst, RS Means, and CSI codes.
  • Basic knowledge of construction methods and means.
  • Strong analytical and math skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to analyze data.
  • Proficient in critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a working knowledge of how estimate development processes work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Essential Physical Requirements 

Sedentary: Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
