Job Summary:
RSI is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, reporting, and project administration activities for environmental and infrastructure projects across the United States. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager within the PMO, this position offers an excellent opportunity to develop project controls expertise while working closely with project managers, finance personnel, and project teams.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, proficient in Microsoft Excel, and interested in building a career in project controls, project management, or financial analysis.
Requirements and Education:
Cost Management & Budget Tracking
- Assist with development and maintenance of project budgets.
- Track project expenditures against approved budgets.
- Support forecasting of project costs and funding requirements.
- Monitor labor, subcontract, procurement, and other project costs.
- Identify and communicate potential cost variances to project teams.
Commitments & Procurement Tracking
- Maintain subcontractor and procurement commitment logs.
- Monitor purchase orders, subcontracts, and funding utilization.
- Notify project teams of upcoming funding limitations and commitment concerns.
- Assist with invoice verification and cost reconciliation.
Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparation of weekly and monthly project performance reports.
- Support variance analysis comparing actual costs against budget and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain project tracking spreadsheets and dashboards.
- Collect and validate project data for management reporting.
Change Management
- Maintain change logs and project documentation.
- Assist in tracking contract modifications and amendments.
- Support documentation of scope, budget, and funding changes.
Project Administration
- Support project teams with invoicing and financial documentation.
- Coordinate meetings and maintain project records.
- Assist PMO staff with various project controls and management activities.
Preferred Experience and Education:
- Experience: Previous experience in finance or project controls environment is a plus.
- Education: High school diploma. 0-2 years of experience in project controls, planning, or a similar analytical role.
