Job Title: Environmental Scientist

Summary

RSI EnTech is actively seeking a talented and experienced Environmental Scientist to support the Water Resources Restoration Program (WRRP). The WRRP monitors environmental media across the Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR) to provide baseline data and to evaluate the effectiveness of CERCLA decisions. An experienced Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Engineer with strong CERCLA process knowledge including the development of sampling designs and evaluation of monitoring results and human health and ecological risk assessment may be particularly suitable for this position. A strong background in the development and implementation of CERCLA documentation, specifically sampling and analysis plans, work plans, and five-year reviews is desired. The applicant should have a strong attention to detail and be capable of multi-tasking. Work scope will include data evaluation and report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and write CERCLA sampling and analysis plans and associated errata for various environmental media (groundwater, surface water, sediment. and biota).
  • Resolve monitoring discrepancies with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Write, review and coordinate CERCLA Quality Assurance Project Plans.
  • Evaluate and write reports to support WRRP objectives.
  • Coordinate with numerous entities to ensure all sampling plan objectives are met for the particular CERCLA Record of Decision (ROD) requirements.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have at a minimum a Bachelor’s degree in related earth science/environmental science/engineering field from an accredited school or equivalent, and 10+ years of experience in the responsibilities detailed
  • Master’s degree in environmental field preferred (geology, environmental science, biology, chemistry, etc.)
  • Experience in preparing and performing CERCLA human health and ecological risk assessments preferred
  • Experience planning and managing environmental investigations
  • Background in analytical methods and associated detection levels
  • Experience and knowledge of the ORR and the Department of Energy (DOE) preferred
  • Experience in identification and implementation of CERCLA sampling and analysis plans and other CERCLA reports in accordance with EPA CERCLA document guidance
  • Able to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training
  • Proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience in working with Federal Agencies (DOE preferred)
  • Experience in working with State and Federal regulators
  • Ability to obtain a Q clearance
  • Self-motivated, requires limited direction
