Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for a Technical Editor Lead who will provide support for technical documents as part of the Legacy Management Support (LMS) contract. Will be the subject matter expert for the team, assisting the Document Management Manager with information flow to and from the team.

Location(s): Various Locations
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hiring Range: $36.06 to $41.83 per hour. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

 

This position is required to travel less than 5% of the time.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee editor workload through communication with customers, editors, production staff and management.
  • Act as first responder to inquiries for Document Management mailbox that are related to editing.
  • Editing a wide variety of project documents, from 1-page letters to 500+ page technical reports.
  • Using Track Changes and comments in Microsoft Word to communicate with writers.
  • Using SharePoint to claim and complete jobs and communicate with Document Management team.
  • Participating in the technical editing quality control system and quarterly style forum.
  • Communicating with leadership and team about deadlines and workload.
  • Interfacing with other departments.
  • Mentors and trains more junior staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Technical Communications, Business, or related technical discipline. Experience in lieu of education considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Experience in editing technical documents and foundation of principles, concepts, and techniques related to technical writing and editing. Specialized training in technical communication.

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Advanced knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Impeccable organizational skills, detail orientation, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with leadership, team, and customers.

Essential Physical Requirements

Sedentary: Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
