Job Summary:

The Project Scheduler plays a critical role in planning and managing complex defense and Department of Energy-related projects by developing and maintaining detailed schedules that align with contractual obligations, security protocols, and mission-critical timelines. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, procurement, logistics, and government stakeholders to ensure successful project execution within a highly regulated environment. This position is On-Site at Kirtland AFB (Sandia National Lab) in Albuquerque, NM.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrated master schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Identify critical paths, resource constraints, and schedule risks across engineering, manufacturing, testing, and deployment phases.
  • Incorporate milestones and deliverables per stakeholder requirements
  • Support Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development and updates.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for internal and external reviews.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting
  • Monitor progress against baseline schedules and perform variance analysis.
  • Generate reports for program managers, government clients, and prime contractors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, finance, contracts, and logistics.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and program reviews.
  • Communicate schedule impacts and recovery plans to leadership and government representatives.

 

Preferred Attributes:

  • Familiarity with other scheduling packages and experience with Air Force programs, especially those serving nuclear weapons or nuclear capable platforms.
  • Experience with Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) in nuclear environments.
  • Knowledge of ALARA principles and nuclear facility operations.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 

Job Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMI-SP, PMP, or equivalent certification preferred, but not necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear safety culture and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules and adapt to evolving project scopes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project.

 

 

Required Education and Experience

 

Scheduler I

•           3+ years of experience in project scheduling, preferably in nuclear, energy, or highly regulated industries.

Scheduler II

•           5+ years of experience in project scheduling, preferably in nuclear, energy, or highly regulated industries.

 

Clearance and Health Regiments

  • Criminal Background Check
  • Pre-placement Drug Screening
  • Clearance: Secret required with the ability to obtain TS
