Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for a Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA) Operations Lead who will be responsible for supporting the LM long-term maintenance and surveillance mission for UMTRCA sites. Primarily supports the subtask through performance of field operations. Coordinates site monitoring and maintenance activities.  Applies ISMS/IWCP principles to support the planning and execution of work.

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Hiring Range: $79,000.00 – 90,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

 

This position is required to travel 26-49% of the time.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands and applies organizational core values and provides leadership to ensure that organizational core values, requirements, and expectations are embodied in the execution of work.
  • Completes timesheets, expense authorizations, and expense reports in accordance with established requirements.
  • Supports site leads in the planning and execution of field work in accordance with ISMS principles and ICWP processes and established LMS processes and procedures.
  • Assists in the preparation of schedules and budgets as assigned.
  • Coordinates field operations and may serve at the Person in Charge (PIC) related to LTS&M mission support for inspections, field data collection, treatment system operations and maintenance, systems repairs, minor site maintenance, subcontracted field support, and LTS&M operational interface with major projects initiatives involving construction or decommissioning actions.
  • Participates in site inspections and other field and non-field activities to execute requirements stipulated in the Long-Term Surveillance Plan, Groundwater Compliance Action Plan, or equivalent document on behalf of LM.
  • Prepares work product as assigned to support specific LTS&M goals and objectives.
  • May function as a subject matter expert (SME) on behalf of the organization in areas of expertise associated with specific education, training, and experience.
  • Interacts professionally and effectively with LM staff, as assigned, to provide support consistent with contract requirements.
  • Completes assigned training and required reads in accordance with scheduled timeframes.
  • Supports responses to requests for mission support information from internal and external entities.
  • Provides information required to support routine and non-routine project status reporting.
  • Supports FIMS inspections, reporting updates, as assigned.
  • Performs ERF/ERC and SMRP annual reviews and updates, as assigned.
  • Supports annual site environmental report updates, as assigned.
  • Prepares annual site hazards survey update.
  • Prepares site specific emergency response information updates.
  • Attends routine staff meetings; monthly VPP safety meetings; and other internal and external meetings as required.
  • May assist in the preparation of technical abstracts and papers in collaboration with SMEs and LM POCs for presentation at conferences, meetings, and forums identified as integral to mission goals.
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with functional support organizations. 
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors and subtask management. 
  • May serve as primary Point of Contact or Person in Charge for subcontracted personnel if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Education and or experience in the review and interpretation of environmental data.
  • Ability to understand and apply the concepts and practices associated with the development and implementation of schedules and budgets.
  • Ability to interact effectively with LM client point of contacts (POCs), SMEs, and Program and Executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of field operations principles and concepts related to environmental investigations, data collection field methods, operations and maintenance, and construction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform moderate hiking in rocky terrain under a variety of weather conditions, including conditions where cold stress and heat stress may pose a hazard.
  • Organizational skills required to address multiple competing priorities in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple governmental agencies, regulators, stakeholders, and community members.

Essential Physical Requirements 

Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
