Position Summary
RSI is recruiting for an Intern – Ecology who will research and develop a wetland habitat improvement project at the Bluewater, NM, Disposal Site. A statement of work will be developed to be implemented in future years.

Status: Part-Time - Temporary
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hiring Range: $17.01 - $20.00 per hour. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)
This position is required to travel 10-25% of the time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify data gaps related to two potential project locations that were identified in 2025. These are locations that are not wetlands but have high potential to be developed into wetlands.
- Address identified data gaps with additional research, field work, or visits to other wetlands on LM sites.
- Work with the Ecological Services Eco West team and the LM client to establish goals for the constructed wetland project.
- Develop a plan for an engineered wetland at the Bluewater site that addresses LM’s goals.
- Prepare a statement of work that could be used in future years to construct the wetland on site.
- Collaborate with LMS ecologists, other scientists, and engineers to research and create the statement of work.
- Assist with field work if needed at other LM sites.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience
- Completion of 60 credit hours prior to start of internship towards an undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering.
- No relevant experience required.
- Previous experience with field work at LM sites is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- No professional certification required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Experience with Microsoft office including but not limited to Excel and Word.
- Ability to perform field work in summer at arid, remote sites.
- Ability to write a statement of work competently and in accordance with guidelines provided.

Essential Physical Requirements
Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
