Job Title: Intern - ESL/AS&T Educational Collaboration

Location(s): Grand Junction, CO

Status: Temporary – 90 days or less

Anticipated Start date: May 20, 2024

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range: $14.42 - $15.70/hr.

 

Clearance and Health Requirements:

This Internship is under the AS&T Educational Collaboration task working with Dr. Raymond H. Johnson. Work will include Grand Junction Office sediment and water sampling along with column testing at the Environmental Sciences Laboratory (ESL) in an anoxic glove box located at the Grand Junction Office.

 

This position is required be in the field less than 10% of the time.

 

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Sediment collection, preparation, and geochemical analyses
  • Water collection, preparation, and geochemical analyses
  • Data analyses and graphing.
  • Column testing at the ESL.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Microsoft office including but not limited to Excel and Word

 

Minimum Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • Completion of 60 credit hours prior to start of internship towards an ungraduated degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or Chemistry.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

The employee exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
