Job Title: GIS Analyst

Location(s): Grand Junction or Westminster, CO

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Hiring Range: The anticipated starting salary pay range of $55,000 - $65,000/year with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of relevant experience or $65,000 - $75,000/year with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 7 years of relevant experience.  The offered salary may be more depending upon additional education, training, and experience of the selected applicant.

Job Description:

RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for a GIS Analyst. This position performs a broad range of geospatial related tasks in support of Legacy Management (LM) organizations and programs, including the Aviation program and the Defense-Related Uranium Mines (DRUM) program. This GIS Analyst produces geospatial products, performs geospatial data management, and performs data quality assurance.

 

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Produce quality maps and figures of geospatial information for report deliverables and field documents
  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes
  • Manage and build geospatial databases from imagery, lidar, CAD, and other cartographic/digital sources
  • Support the development of GIS database designs
  • Provide spatial data analysis and loading of data for the program, including management of spatial data collected by field teams
  • Assist with the overall management of geospatial databases maintained by the department
  • Ensure compliance with adopted standards for geospatial data, including performing quality control on attributes, metadata, topology, and spatial accuracy
  • Evaluate geospatial data quality, including data associated with aerial survey deliverables, and provide documentation
  • Provide QA/QC on spatial data collected in the field, and produce maps as needed for field personnel
  • Work with data providers to migrate data into the enterprise geospatial data structure
  • Collaborate with personnel concerning revisions to maps and geospatial data
  • Communicate technical subjects to both management and clients in a clear manner
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Work experience, skills, and capabilities needed:

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Esri’s Desktop ArcGIS Pro software with cartography, data editing, data management, and data organization
  • Ability to create quality maps and other data visualization and analysis using data from multiple platforms
  • Experience with managing vector and raster data sets in an enterprise GIS environment
  • Ability to write procedures, document business processes, and prepare application/platform documentation
  • Strong team skills with ability to work independently and take direction
  • Proactively manage time to meet schedules, excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with peers, clients, and share ideas of complex matters, both verbally and in writing

 

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of a Geographic Information System including relational database fundamentals and concepts for performing data collection, processing, analysis, and modeling
  • Understanding of geographic data sources available through local, county, state, or federal agencies
  • Understanding of spatial/tabular data collection, organization, management, and processing
  • MS Office, Word, Excel
  • Esri ArcGIS Desktop Pro (2.8 or higher)

 

 

Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2016 or higher)
  • Knowledge of commonly applied standards including but not limited to the FGDC National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDS) and the ASPRS Accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data
  • Experience with mobile field data collection including Trimble GPS devices, Trimble Pathfinder Office, ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey 123, ArcGIS QuickCapture
  • Understanding of high-level web app design and authoring
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
  • Proficiency in Python scripting language
  • Certification - Esri ArcGIS Desktop Associate
  • Certification - GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professional)

 

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, or related field with demonstrated GIS training or coursework. 
  • 5 years of relevant experience
