Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for a Certified Industrial Hygienist who will act as the SME and IH representative for the Safety & Health Program. Maintain the core elements of Industrial Hygiene by analyzing, identifying, and measuring workplace risk as defined under standard, law, regulations and certifying IH body (ACGIH) requirements to provide the recommendations to manage/mitigate potential risk and/or exposure to workers for the project.

Hiring Range: $108,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

 

This position is required to travel >5% of the time.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as Industrial Hygiene (IH) Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Credentials.
  • Lead the management, assessment, analysis, documentation, and recommendations for LMS contract IH, monitoring and sampling activity requirements.
  • Maintain the LMS contract Industrial Hygiene Exposure Assessment (IHEA) Program which follows ACGIH and AIHA guidance.
  • Collaborate and Assist with Health and Safety Representatives on Industrial Hygiene and some H&S related field work activities.
  • Manage IH activity planning for multiple projects at once including the communication to cross-functional teams.
  • Act as Core Member to Project Planning teams to ensure oversight of IH and S&H of projects.
  • Create Industrial Hygiene reports that contain employee process information, air and noise sampling analysis results and interpretation of results with cost effective recommendations and reduce employee exposure with Employee Notification Letters.
  • Responsible for the tracking and maintenance of employee, subcontractor IH monitoring of program files for use, retention and audit purposes. Maintains confidentiality of IH monitoring files.
  • Assist with AIMS issues as an IH and S&H SME to address issues, corrective actions, and findings.
  • Perform inspections of sites and laboratories for Health and Safety issues including writing, reviewing, and reporting.
  • Assist in procedure/policy review, revision, and creation for both IH and SH departmental needs.
  • Act as Core Member to Project Planning teams to ensure oversight of IH and S&H of projects.
  • Manage the Industrial Hygiene Sampling Database.
  • Work to constantly improve procedures and processes.
  • Research products used in projects to ensure appropriate use and safe use and minimize contaminant exposure.
  • Able to interpret regulations and apply for best industry practices along with research interpretation letters.
  • Perform IH in-field sampling as needed.
  • Mentor/Assist IH or SH technician/specialist position(s) with site IH needs, equipment requirements or sampling requirements and analysis.
  • Manage the Calibration of S&H and IH Equipment for in-field use.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Chemistry, Toxicology, or related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in IH practice(s) analytics and applications.
  • Knowledgeable in lab practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in HS, Occmed and ergonomic processes, application, and any regulatory requirements such as defined under 10CFR851, State/Federal agency(s).
  • Able to assess and define risk and hazard implications to work scope, project, and program needs.
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in the use and requirements of IH equipment, sampling technique and analysis.
  • Able to create and conduct training on IH program requirements, equipment maintenance/calibration, tracking and assessments within the HS program.
  • Able to interact, support and work with multi-dimensional teams and diverse personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal skillset.
  • Strong computer and software/database skills.

Essential Physical Requirements 

Sedentary: Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
