Position Summary
RSI is recruiting for a Sr. Safety & Health Professional who will assist with the implementation of the Worker Safety and Health Program throughout the Legacy Management Program interfacing with multiple departments. This position includes maintaining current knowledge of Federal and State safety and health regulations as they pertain to the LMS safety and health program, reviewing LMS safety and health requirements and hazard controls to provide input and oversight on field projects, and providing safety and health planning support at the project-level.

Hiring Range: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)
This position is required to travel 49% of the time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Safety and Health Field Manager in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the safety and health department and contribute to the application of effective safety and health management by providing field support.
- Provide real time safety evaluations and determinations in the field.
- Provide site support to project managers in implementation of the LMS Safety and Health program related topics to assure compliance with 10 CFR 851.and 10 CFR 835.
- Make decisions with internal compliance audits and program evaluations.
- Support development of Job Hazard Analysis.
- Instruct safety-related training classes.
- Conduct work according to approved work plans, and ensuring procedures are followed.
- Ability to evaluate data, review reports, and write report sections.
- Immediately raise issues or concerns regarding safety and health symptoms. (i.e., dehydration, heat stress, etc.).
- Work with office personnel in planning field activities.
- Provide radiological support to various legacy management projects.
- Provide industrial hygiene support/sampling to various legacy management projects.
- Provide field support in the western United States regarding Safety& Health, Industrial Hygiene and Radiation Protection for the Department of Energy Legacy Management activities as requested.
- Perform the assigned duties of Radioactive Material Shipping Coordinator as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in safety related, physical science, or equivalent field. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
- 10 years of relevant experience and working knowledge of 10 CFR 851 and 10 CFR 835.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to pursue CSP, ASP, OHST or equivalent.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with MS Office suite of products.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience in field work in various environmental conditions.
- Knowledge and use of radiation and safety equipment or the ability to learn.
- Must be willing to pursue safety certifications.
- Department of Energy RCT training or ability to obtain certification.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions precisely.
- Effective organization and planning skills.

Essential Physical Requirements
Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
