Position Summary

RSI is currently recruiting for Electrical Engineers at Sandia National Laboratory.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work in an autonomous teaming environment and provide timely, high quality, customer serviced based electrical engineering solutions to challenging problems.
  • Provide Electrical Engineering support of operations, maintenance, renovation, and new construction of facilities & infrastructure, which include projects such as office buildings, laboratories, test facilities, prototype support, and site infrastructure.
  • Define project scopes in close coordination with facility sponsors.
  • Evaluate electrical system operations.
  • Work in the capacity of the project electrical engineer to evaluate current electrical systems, concept designs and execution phase support.
  • Understanding of Engineering Design Files, materials and parts list, system design descriptions, confirm design complies with requirements, and prepare and issue construction/fabrication drawings.
  • Confirm compliance to applicable codes.
  • Participate in the design review process.
  • Support construction and maintenance, installation, and acceptance testing at startup.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college plus five (5) years relevant experience or applicable Master’s plus (3) years relevant experience

 

Job Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Knowledge & application of NEC code and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE Standards
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and layouts.
  • Broad knowledge of the application of electrical engineering design principles
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; can effectively write reports and make presentations and productively interface with customer.
  • Participate in continuing education, maintains and enhances technical capability and continues to acquire competence in engineering disciplines.
  • Experience and proficiency with power distribution design and analysis programs such as SKM Powertools.
  • Experience and proficiency with all aspects of power distribution, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, and cathodic protection.
       Preferred:
  • Experience with commercial and industrial power distribution design and maintenance.
  • Reliability Engineering focus is a plus.
  • Work may be required outside normal business hours and sometimes on short notice
